The AI Governance Program aims to explore the multifaceted challenges and opportunities presented by the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Recognizing that AI technologies are fundamentally altering many aspects of human life, from healthcare and education to privacy and security, there is an urgent need for a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to oversee these changes responsibly. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, the program aims to provide actionable insights and policy recommendations for governments, organizations, and AI developers globally.

Current Research

The centerpiece of our program is the creation of a comprehensive paper on public interest AI technologies. Public interest AI technologies are those specifically designed to address and reduce the risks associated with AI applications, such as disinformation, ethical misalignments, and other societal challenges. This paper will delve deeply into various critical areas, including detailed research on AI policy and legislation, a thorough analysis of the risks emerging from AI technologies, strategies for effective corporate governance in AI-focused companies, and an extensive evaluation of the market size for public interest AI technologies. This initiative aims to provide a multi-dimensional view of AI's impact on society and offer guidance on managing and harnessing AI for the greater good.
